Job description

Role Overview

Working as a Dispenser within a Boots store, you will play a vital role supporting the pharmacy team, including the pharmacist and healthcare professionals, to deliver pharmacy and health services safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities range from dispensing prescriptions, advising customers, to ensuring medicines are managed safely in-store.

Primary Duties

  • Accurately dispensing prescriptions ensuring the medicines are ordered, labeled, endorsed, and collected properly following safety protocols.
  • Collaborating closely with the pharmacy team to assist in managing pharmacy service delivery.
  • Providing patients with professional advice on medicines, referring more complex queries to the pharmacist.
  • Adhering strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guarantee legal and safe dispensing activities.
  • Maintaining awareness of innovations and process changes within the store pharmacy department.
  • Supporting patients in managing their prescriptions effectively to encourage adherence and minimize medication waste.

Technology and Development

You will engage with modern dispensing technology and systems aimed at enhancing patient safety and enabling you to spend more time assisting patients. Ongoing training and regular updates will help build your healthcare expertise. Career progression pathways include training as a Pharmacy Technician or advancement within store leadership.

Qualifications & Eligibility

  • Must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor NVQ2 qualification or equivalent, or be in progress with an MPharm degree having completed the first year.
  • Must hold valid UK work authorization; this role does not sponsor Skilled Worker Visas and candidates must be able to confirm this eligibility.

Preferred Experience

Experience in community pharmacy settings is beneficial but not mandatory.
