About the Role

At First Student, the Dispatcher plays a crucial role in reflecting the company's dedication to safety and exceptional customer service. This position involves managing bus dispatch duties to guarantee timely route performance, as well as providing guidance and support to drivers and monitors on the front lines.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee all bus routes and schedules to ensure punctual operations
• Provide coaching and counseling to drivers and monitors to maintain high standards
• Manage extensive phone and radio communications effectively
• Address scheduling issues and driver complaints, reporting concerns to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager
• Act as the principal communication contact for the primary contracted customer
• Oversee charter reservations, billing processes, or manage driver payroll duties if required
• Resolve challenges related to drop-off and pick-up logistics
• Perform backup driver responsibilities and miscellaneous clerical tasks as needed
• Complete special project assignments as delegated
• Support daily operations supervision to ensure smooth functioning

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Between three to five years of relevant professional experience
• High school diploma or equivalent educational background
• Familiarity with radio dispatch systems
• Strong communication skills coupled with excellent customer service abilities
• Capability to perform well under strict time constraints and meet deadlines
• Prior experience in terminal operations, dispatch, or driver roles
• Competency in using computers
