Job description

Overview

Datadog is looking for an experienced Director of Technical Account Management (TAM) to lead and expand our Technical Post Sales team across the EMEA region. The role involves overseeing a growing team currently comprising 25-30 professionals, with plans to more than double this number within two to three years. This senior leadership position requires building scalable processes, developing leadership capabilities, and enhancing organizational infrastructure to support rapid expansion.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Drive the growth of the EMEA TAM team from 25-30 to 50-70+ members, including hiring and mentoring first-line leaders and designing efficient team structures and systems to maintain high-quality output during expansion.
  • Lead managers and senior technical account managers throughout EMEA to ensure customer retention, success, and growth tied to excellent technical service delivery.
  • Own and implement the commercial strategy for the Technical Post Sales program by collaborating with Sales teams to effectively position and sell TAM services as a vital component of Datadog’s value proposition.
  • Set and monitor regional Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) aligned with global targets, ensuring accountability through quarterly leadership reviews.
  • Conduct executive-level recruitment and develop leadership talent within the organization to enable scalable team structures.
  • Act as an executive sponsor for strategic accounts, engaging with C-level stakeholders to reinforce value, resolve issues, and uncover opportunities for expansion.
  • Collaborate with global teams across TPS, Product, Sales Engineering, Customer Success, and Enablement divisions to standardize and adapt the TAM offering to regional requirements.
  • Implement robust operational systems including metrics, health scorecards, capacity planning, and forecasting to provide clear visibility into team performance and client outcomes.
  • Lead talent development initiatives, such as performance evaluations and career planning, aimed at nurturing future leaders and retaining top talent.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 8 years’ leadership experience managing Professional Services, TAM, or Sales Engineering teams, with proven success in scaling teams from under 25 to over 50 members.
  • Proven track record of recruiting and developing first-line managers and building leadership depth.
  • Commercially savvy with experience in selling or co-selling services and demonstrated ability to grow related revenue, positioning TAM as a value-generating function.
  • Strong technical proficiency across infrastructure, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), observability, and monitoring technologies, capable of engaging both technical specialists and senior executives.
  • Strategic and operational mindset, able to set vision and establish systems to support team autonomy and scalable performance.
  • Prior experience as a TAM, Solutions Architect, or similar client-facing technical individual contributor for 3–5+ years, providing credibility with the team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% within EMEA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience redesigning organizational structures during high-growth phases, including creating specialized team configurations.
  • Demonstrated advocacy for cloud adoption, observability, or security initiatives at C-level and board meetings across multiple EMEA markets.
  • Familiarity with Datadog or comparable leading cloud monitoring and observability platforms.
  • Multilingual capabilities or significant experience working with multicultural teams across EMEA.
