Director, Structured Rates Trader

Job Overview

This leadership role in structured rates trading can be located in either Hong Kong or Singapore. Applicants should select the relevant country when applying. The position involves strategizing, trading, risk management, governance, and relationship building to drive profit within risk limits.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement the desk's strategic plan to generate profits while maintaining acceptable risk levels.
• Collaborate across Sales, Structuring, and other trading teams to maximize revenue and meet annual targets.
• Provide timely, precise pricing of interest rate derivatives to internal and external clients at competitive rates.
• Execute trades that hedge risks and leverage market flows for revenue generation.
• Broaden the product suite by testing and launching new trading models.
• Manage portfolio risk by adhering to risk limits and seeking approvals as needed.
• Develop and maintain connections with other global market centers to identify growth opportunities.
• Ensure strict compliance with internal controls, operational risk monitoring, anti-money laundering policies, and local regulations.
• Lead the team by example, foster the right culture and values, and work collaboratively with risk and control functions.
• Contribute to continuous process improvements and best practice sharing.
• Recruit, engage, and retain top talent while planning for succession in critical roles.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to the group, understanding the financial implications and applying suitable controls.
• Maintain governance standards by evaluating and improving oversight processes and complying with the regulatory framework.
• Promote ethical conduct by adhering to the group’s Values and Code of Conduct and by managing risk and compliance proactively.
• Engage with stakeholders including global Sales & Structuring, Risk Officers, Legal & Compliance, Finance, Operations, IT, trading counterparties, and brokers.
• Support global brand and values initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

• Expertise in customer behavior and preferences within financial contexts.
• Strong foundation in financial mathematics and investment risk economics.
• In-depth knowledge of market risk and trading.
• Proven experience measuring investment performance.
• Minimum 7 years of experience trading structured rates products, preferably in Asia.
• Master’s degree in Finance or Financial Engineering.
• Strong project and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and assume ownership.
• Ability to thrive in diverse, team-oriented environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience presenting to senior leadership.
• Adaptability and resilience in fast-changing, dynamic settings.
