Job description

About the Role

Join Parsons as a Director of Stations, where you'll lead the architectural, engineering, and technical efforts to design and deliver a network of fully automated GoA4 driverless rail transit stations. Working directly on the client side within a fast-paced developer-driven environment, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of stations, optimizing the passenger experience, and managing complex integration with adjacent infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the functional design of all stations, focusing on optimal passenger flows, platform screen door integration, vertical transportation capacity, emergency egress, and efficient circulation for high-capacity driverless systems.
  • Coordinate intricate MEP systems including tunnel ventilation, smoke extraction, and environmental controls in harmony with architectural and structural elements.
  • Integrate transit subsystems like communications, SCADA, security, and signaling rooms while preserving design quality and operational adaptability.
  • Oversee and hold accountable Tier 1 international architectural and engineering consultants as well as Project Management Officers through rigorous design reviews to maintain quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Implement and enforce internal technical assurance standards, safety-by-design protocols, configuration controls, and compliance with global and local civil defense RAMS and safety requirements.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize spatial efficiency, constructability, and lifecycle maintenance costs without compromising safety or passenger experience.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison for station integration with real estate developers, coordinating physical footprints, structural loads, and utility connections.
  • Manage commercial boundaries to protect rail operational and structural rights-of-way, ensuring alignment with developer schedules and master planning phases.
  • Proactively resolve design conflicts between developer goals and rail transit needs to achieve mutually beneficial urban integration.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 15 years of experience delivering major rail transit station infrastructure projects, including a minimum of 5 years leading client-side engineering or architectural design teams.
  • Strong expertise in transit station design, encompassing space planning, MEP coordination, platform screen door systems, and life-safety systems; experience with automated driverless (GoA4) transit lines is highly desirable.
  • Proven success working in developer-led environments involving multi-stakeholder real estate master plans, large giga-projects, or air-rights developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and evaluate high-level international architectural and engineering consultants effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related disciplines; professional chartership (e.g. RIBA, AIA, CEng) is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction management, material selection, and regulatory approval processes including Civil Defense within Saudi Arabia or the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is advantageous.
