Job description
Overview
The Reliability Engineering division of The Hartford is committed to enhancing system resilience, stability, and development productivity throughout the software development lifecycle. This leadership role focuses on delivering customer-centric system engineering solutions, actively engaging across all operational phases including initial deployment (Day 0), maintenance (Day 1), and continuous operations (Day 2).
Key Responsibilities
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements and trends in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, and AI/ML technologies.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, and YAML-based build specifications.
- Implement cloud security strategies centered around applications, including managing IAM policies.
- Possess deep expertise in various AWS services such as Lambda, CloudWatch, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, AWS Connect, and Service Catalog.
- Design and introduce new software architecture patterns to improve system capabilities.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to Cloud and Software Engineering teams.
- Hold relevant certifications in AI/ML and AWS cloud services.
- Lead the definition and design of generative AI solutions, including training and tuning models with extensive data sets.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AI models effectively into existing applications.
- Ensure robust disaster recovery, high availability, and fault tolerance measures are implemented.
- Maintain excellent communication and interpersonal relations across organizational levels.
- Exhibit strong analytical and strategic planning abilities with emphasis on scalable and continuous delivery methodologies.
- Utilize tools like GitHub, Nexus/Artifactory, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Jenkins, and cloud-native DevOps services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or any Engineering discipline.
- Over 10 years of experience programming in Python.
- More than 15 years involved in software development.
- At least 10 years dedicated to software architecture and systems design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK.
- Strong background in software development with DevSecOps expertise.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AWS pertaining to application development.
- Experience in software architecture or systems engineering roles.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively at multiple organizational levels and influence leadership.
- Successful track record in leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
