Role Overview
The Director of People Operations will steer and enhance Coda's global people operations function, managing activities across the entire employee lifecycle. This role includes overseeing payroll, compliance, mobility, systems, onboarding, and offboarding processes, focusing on delivering rapid, dependable, and seamless people-related interactions.
Reporting directly to the SVP of People, the director will lead a worldwide team managing a workforce exceeding 600 employees in over 20 countries. Collaboration with internal stakeholders is crucial to this strategic yet hands-on leadership role aimed at building scalable operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and expansion of a global people operations team responsible for:
- Administration and optimization of HRIS (notably Rippling)
- Payroll processing and vendor partnerships
- Ensuring adherence to employment compliance regulations
- Managing employee mobility, including visas and immigration procedures
- Handling daily people operations and employee support via Jira
- Manage operations that enhance the employee experience across all stages, setting service-level agreements (SLAs), driving high customer satisfaction (CSAT), and refining onboarding to offboarding journeys
- Create scalable policies, processes, and operational models aligned with business growth
- Serve as a strategic consultant to senior leadership on people operations risks, improvements, and industry best practices
- Maintain rigorous controls, documentation, and preparedness for audits concerning payroll, compliance, and employee data
- Collaborate with other HR leaders on employee relations, compensation, and talent development initiatives
- Lead critical M&A integration efforts including due diligence, employee data migration, payroll harmonization, compliance alignment, and change management
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in people operations with a demonstrated history of leading and cultivating distributed teams
- Proven expertise in scaling people operations within mid-sized global organizations (500–1,000 staff), ideally with experience in mergers and acquisitions
- Ability to manage diverse employment laws and cultural contexts throughout APAC and EMEA regions
- Success in establishing SLA- and CSAT-focused service models emphasizing operational excellence and employee satisfaction
- Demonstrated influence and ability to drive outcomes in a cross-functional and culturally diverse environment across multiple time zones
- Strong strategic mindset balanced with practical, hands-on execution skills
- Exceptional communication and collaboration capabilities
- Technical proficiency including familiarity with AI tools, Google Workspace, Slack, and multiple HRIS platforms; experience with Rippling is advantageous
