About the Role
We seek a Director of Engineering specializing in AI and Full-Stack SaaS to spearhead the engineering vision and implementation of a high-scale, enterprise-grade SaaS platform. This position is suited for a seasoned engineering leader with extensive expertise in software engineering, enterprise SaaS, cloud-native architectures, full-stack development, and real-world AI/Generative AI application.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading multiple engineering teams, shaping architecture and technical decisions, enhancing engineering speed and quality, and integrating AI throughout the software development lifecycle and product ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coach multiple engineering teams developing enterprise SaaS products.
- Define and implement engineering strategies, technical roadmaps, architecture design, and development standards.
- Oversee development of scalable, secure, reliable cloud-native SaaS solutions.
- Provide technical guidance across backend, frontend, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Champion adoption of AI/GenAI tools to enhance development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, automation, and productivity.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, DevOps, Security, and other teams to deliver key business functionalities.
- Establish engineering best practices related to design, coding, testing, CI/CD, observability, performance, and reliability.
- Ensure high-quality engineering deliverables, scalability, and operational excellence across products.
- Address complex technical and architectural issues effectively.
- Build a high-performance culture that encourages innovation, ownership, teamwork, and continuous process improvements.
- Assess emerging technologies and identify AI/automation opportunities to improve engineering efficiency and product features.
- Lead modernization and evolution of existing enterprise platforms.
- Communicate engineering strategy, risks, priorities, and progress confidently to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
- Over 15 years of experience in software/product engineering, with significant leadership roles.
- Proven leadership of large or multi-team engineering organizations.
- Strong background in enterprise SaaS product development.
- In-depth knowledge of full-stack software engineering and modern application architectures.
- Expertise with Java, Spring Boot, or similar enterprise backend technologies.
- Comprehensive understanding of microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native design.
- Practical experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Track record of building and scaling highly available, secure, resilient SaaS platforms.
- Good grasp of modern frontend frameworks and full-stack development methodologies.
- Familiarity with DevOps, continuous integration/delivery, automated testing, and engineering productivity tools.
- Experience adopting AI/Generative AI technologies in software engineering or enterprise products.
- Strong architectural and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication capabilities.
Desirable Additional Experience
- Knowledge of Large Language Models, generative AI, AI agents, or AI-based developer tools.
- Experience integrating AI within enterprise SaaS offerings.
- Driving AI-assisted software development or AI-first software development lifecycle initiatives.
- Experience in workflow automation, orchestration, or enterprise automation platforms.
- Work with mission-critical enterprise applications.
- Managing dispersed, geographically distributed engineering teams.
- Exposure to product-driven engineering cultures.
