Role Overview and Responsibilities

• Address significant business challenges at scale leveraging your software engineering expertise.
• Ensure on-time delivery of milestones with close alignment, working collaboratively "two-in-a-box" alongside product leadership.
• Adapt organizational structures to match strategic initiatives, building cohesive teams with efficient communication frameworks.
• Manage technical debt through prudent architectural decisions while balancing product roadmap priorities.
• Lead and actively engage in technical, product, and design deliberations.
• Build, oversee, and operate scalable cloud-based services.
• Develop and mentor leadership within the team by offering coaching and opportunities for growth.
• Collaborate with engineering and product leaders on planning, prioritization, and resource allocation.
• Champion a culture of excellence underpinned by empathetic leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

• Over 15 years of professional experience in building and supporting extensive distributed systems.
• Proven success in recruiting, developing, and managing high-performing teams.
• Ability to attract talent aligned with Databricks’ hiring principles.
• Experience with cloud platform development and management, or the capability to rapidly acquire relevant SaaS domain knowledge.
• Competence in cross-functional collaboration with product management and direct customer engagement to deeply grasp product uses and customer needs.
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field (Masters or PhD).
