Role Overview

A leading global asset management firm is looking for a seasoned investment expert to head risk oversight operations at its Ireland office. The position integrates comprehensive fund risk duties with the responsibility for investment manager evaluations in both public and private markets. This role involves direct interaction with the Board and management of a compact team.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate investment managers by reviewing their processes, portfolio construction, performance metrics, and risk strategies across public and private market assets.
• Oversee fund risk for various structures including UCITS, AIFs, and bespoke portfolio mandates, ensuring compliance with CP86 guidelines, relevant regulations, and the firm’s risk tolerance.
• Track and analyze market, credit, liquidity, and counterparty risks, engaging with managers to question decisions and escalate significant concerns.
• Conduct thorough due diligence on managers and prepare definitive reports for senior leadership and fund Boards.
• Collaborate closely with Investment Management teams and Operational Risk departments while nurturing the growth and development of the fund risk unit.

Candidate Profile

• Proven track record in investment risk management, investment manager research, or related oversight capacities.
• In-depth familiarity with UCITS, AIFMD regulations, and CP86 standards, qualified to satisfy Central Bank Fitness and Probity criteria under PCF-39C.
• Expert knowledge in risk analytics techniques, including stress testing and performance evaluation.
• Hands-on experience with investment opportunities in both public and private markets, with a special emphasis on private credit and real estate sectors.
• Capacity to professionally challenge investment managers and confidently communicate with Board members.
• Proficiency in investment risk platforms and data analysis tools; skills in Python or R programming are advantageous.
