About the Role

Join PwC Ireland as a VAT Director within our Indirect Tax team, helping clients navigate complex value-added tax (VAT), goods and services tax (GST), sales tax, and other indirect tax matters. Our VAT team, part of Ireland's foremost Indirect Tax practice, consists of 3 Partners and approximately 50 VAT specialists advising global clients across industries such as digital, fintech, pharmaceuticals, retail, asset management, banking, aviation, construction, and real estate.

In this pivotal role, you will provide expert advice on indirect tax planning, compliance, and strategy to optimize clients' tax positions in an ever-evolving global tax landscape. This position offers exposure to a broad range of VAT-related services including consulting, audit defense, tax authority interactions, and VAT function enhancement through technological innovations.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage business insight and innovative thinking to create significant value for clients and the firm.
  • Develop and nurture client relationships while contributing to business growth.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery within budget and timelines while maintaining client satisfaction at a high standard.
  • Champion digital transformation initiatives within the firm and encourage adoption of technology-driven solutions to enhance services.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to team members to foster productive and responsible work ethics.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent within the VAT practice.
  • Deliver training sessions, support internal education efforts, and promote a culture of continuous learning.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in VAT technical consulting and advisory roles.
  • Strong academic credentials; professional qualification such as AITI, CTA, or an equivalent certification is essential.
  • Robust business acumen, with the ability to analyze market trends and apply insights to empower clients in making strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills capable of adapting to diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A passionate team leader and supportive manager committed to coaching and unlocking others' potential.
  • Highly motivated and ambitious, dedicated to ongoing personal learning and development.
