Director, Finance Data Strategy & Stewardship

Job Overview

Serving within the Controllership organization, this leadership role is responsible for shaping and directing the entire lifecycle and governance of Finance data throughout the company. The Director steers the integration of new financial data into the corporate data lake, defines robust data models and governance protocols, and guarantees the accuracy, compliance, and reliability of Finance data utilized for reporting and analytics.

Key Duties

• Develop and execute the data strategy for Finance, ensuring alignment with business goals and reporting demands.
• Manage the onboarding process for new data sources into the Finance data lake prioritizing scalability, traceability, and enterprise architecture compliance.
• Collaborate with Finance, IT, and product teams to translate data needs into clear delivery plans.
• Lead the creation of enterprise-level Finance data models and semantic layers that support analytics, regulatory filings, and operational finance activities.
• Maintain metadata standards and ensure consistency in data definitions and master data alignment.
• Partner with data architects and engineers to build efficient, resilient data pipelines.
• Set and enforce governance policies and stewardship practices for Finance data.
• Monitor data quality rules, manage issues, and supervise remediation efforts.
• Ensure adherence to SOX controls and manage data certification related to financial disclosures.
• Manage and develop an offshore data governance and reporting controls team in India, overseeing stewardship, SOX certification, and reporting support.
• Foster a culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
• Engage executives and cross-functional leaders to align priorities and advise on Finance data risks and opportunities.
• Define KPIs and operating models to track data quality, control effectiveness, and team performance.
• Champion process enhancements, automation, and best practices in Finance data management.
• Keep abreast of new trends and regulations impacting Finance data management.

Qualifications

• 12 to 15+ years in data management or governance, Finance data strategy, or related disciplines.
• In-depth understanding of Finance workflows, accounting, and financial reporting; audit or accounting background preferred.
• Proven expertise in data modeling, data lake management, and data ingestion/transformation processes.
• Experience leading international or offshore teams, particularly in shared-service or global capability centers.
• Strong capability influencing senior leaders and managing stakeholder relationships across functions.
