Job description
Overview
We are collaborating with a premier data centre infrastructure company seeking a seasoned engineering leader to spearhead global data centre electrical design initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
In the capacity of Lead Electrical Director, you will be the key driver for comprehensive design and deployment of resilient electrical systems across the spectrum: Extra Low Voltage (ELV) to High Voltage (HV), direct current setups, renewable energy integrations, and Information & Communication Technology (ICT). You will also play a crucial role as the chief technical resource during pre-sales engagements.
The role requires translating complex Request for Proposals (RFPs) from clients into streamlined, cost-efficient, and buildable electrical designs. Strong negotiating skills are necessary for engaging with end-users and operational teams. Furthermore, you will guide internal teams encompassing Sales, Product, and Delivery to maintain design fidelity from proposal stages through final delivery. You will oversee quality assurance processes, lead incident management, and extract actionable insights to enhance future products and team capabilities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a Master’s degree in a related discipline favored.
- Hold a minimum of 15 years in engineering roles, including at least 6 years focused on the data centre industry.
- Be a Chartered Engineer or Registered Professional Engineer, such as those recognized by CIBSE, PEB Singapore, or HKIE.
- Certification as an Uptime Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) or TIA Certified Designer is highly preferred.
Technical Expertise
- Mastery in power system design and architecture, substation engineering, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and battery technologies, and on-site power generation.
- In-depth knowledge of ELV systems, ICT frameworks, and telecommunications protocols.
- Proficient in control parameter adjustment and Sequence of Operations (SoO).
- Thorough understanding of constructability factors, testing procedures, commissioning (Cx), and operations & maintenance (O&M) necessities.
Location
This role is primarily based in Hong Kong or Singapore.
