Overview
We are partnering with a well-established Saudi engineering and infrastructure group to appoint a Director for their Data Centre Business based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role emphasizes business development and leadership over traditional technical or sales duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement the Data Centre business strategy along with a three-year growth plan.
- Establish and nurture relationships with hyperscalers, Data Centre developers and operators, cloud and telecom providers, government bodies, consultants, and EPC contractors.
- Identify and champion significant projects across various Data Centre sectors including hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, modular, and AI/HPC facilities.
- Create strategic alliances with top OEMs, technology vendors, and specialized contractors.
- Lead major bids, manage commercial discussions, pricing strategies, and value engineering efforts.
- Oversee the full Data Centre lifecycle from initial concept and design to commissioning and final handover.
- Develop key departments such as Engineering, Business Development, Commercial, Projects, and Operations to support business expansion.
- Assume accountability for business objectives including revenue, margins, and sustained profitability.
Initial Focus
The role will require crafting a comprehensive Data Centre Strategic Plan within the first 3-4 months that defines target markets, clientele, opportunities, partnerships, organizational structure, and growth trajectory.
Desired Profile
- Over 20 years of pertinent industry experience.
- Extensive expertise in Data Centre and mission-critical infrastructures.
- At least 10 years in senior leadership or management capacities.
- Proven ability to execute complex Data Centre projects successfully.
- Strong business development and commercial acumen.
- Experience in founding or significantly expanding a Data Centre business or regional operation.
- In-depth understanding of the Saudi Arabian and wider GCC markets along with a robust network in the industry.
- Skilled in managing cross-functional teams and overseeing profit and loss responsibilities.
- Technical credibility in Data Centre infrastructure.
- Relevant certifications such as Uptime Institute, CDCP, CDCS or equivalents are highly favored.
