Content Localization Department

Our Content Localization team is pivotal in delivering superior dubbing, subtitling, and accessibility assets, ensuring global members receive high-quality localized audio and textual content. We prioritize a collaborative team setup alongside leveraging cutting-edge technologies to meet expanding international audience demands.

Role Summary

The APAC Director of Content Localization will lead the region’s dubbing, subtitling, and accessibility efforts. You'll oversee multilingual content management, uphold the utmost quality, operational efficiency, and cultural accuracy. Leading and nurturing a varied team of Language Production and Operations Leads, you will propel innovation and back Netflix's regional growth mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement a tailored regional localization strategy aligned with global goals and KPIs, covering dubbing, subtitling, and associated workflows.
  • Collaborate with global and regional leadership to adapt and execute Netflix’s overarching localization agenda, ensuring resource prioritization across language services.
  • Support and expedite the company’s 5-year Localization vision, emphasizing technological advancement and innovation in dubbing and subtitling.
  • Advocate for APAC insights and needs during global strategy discussions on content globalization.
  • Guide, mentor, and develop diverse, high-achieving Localization Language Leads and Operations Managers throughout various APAC countries.
  • Recruit and maintain top-tier talent while fostering an inclusive, globally minded team culture.
  • Manage team performance, fostering growth and maximizing organizational impact.
  • Engage closely with Content, Production, Marketing, Legal, Public Policy, Finance, and other departments to ensure efficient localization workflows.
  • Champion APAC requirements through insight generation, program initiation, and influencing cross-company localization decisions.
  • Establish strong regional partnerships and represent Netflix in industry and corporate events.
  • Lead efforts in standardizing and refining localization operations to maintain high creative, technical, and operational standards.
  • Oversee localization budgeting and costs in partnership with Finance and Accounting, tracking market and union activities.
  • Monitor competitive developments to sustain Netflix’s leadership in localization services.
  • Drive growth, quality enhancements, and scalability in dubbing, subtitling, and localization operations.
  • Embed a culture of curiosity, accountability, and innovation by sharing best practices across regions.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging presentations and analyses for executive-level audiences, simplifying complex concepts into practical actions.
  • Serve as a professional ambassador for Netflix’s localization expertise within the region.
  • Represent Netflix at relevant industry gatherings to promote localization capabilities and future vision.

Prerequisites

  • Over 15 years of leadership experience managing people and organizations globally, preferably within the entertainment sector.
  • More than 10 years of experience managing large-scale operations in localization, including dubbing and subtitling.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead at senior executive levels with strong operational and organizational management skills.
  • Successful track record in strategic development, business analysis, and communicating data effectively to varied audiences.
  • Outstanding skills in interpersonal communication, public speaking, and presentations.
  • Expertise in the APAC region with fluency in English and at least one other regional language; additional language skills are advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel, enact visionary leadership, and proactively build strong teams.
  • Deep passion for languages, cultural subtleties, and progressive approaches in localization, dubbing, and subtitling workflows.
