Job Overview
This role is for a Direct Tax Analyst based in Pune, focused on supporting clients in various aspects of income tax compliance and advisory.
Client Support Responsibilities
- Assist senior team members by researching and addressing client queries related to capital gains computations, trades reconciliation, tax payments, income tax returns, and compliance.
- Prepare precise income tax returns ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations.
- Conduct tax law research including recent case laws, notifications, and circulars impacting client taxation.
- Review client assignment data for accuracy, flag discrepancies, and report them promptly to the team.
- Draft submissions for assessments and appellate proceedings; support seniors in interactions with income-tax authorities.
- Manage administrative tasks such as engagement letters, document filing, billing follow-ups, and maintaining compliance documentation for clients.
Client Delivery Duties
- Collaborate with the team in examining all facets of assignments to produce comprehensive base reports.
- Support preparation of memos, opinions, and client-ready documentation.
- Coordinate document collection and maintain organized records for timely assignment closure.
- Assist in hearings and appeal submissions as necessary.
- Compile internal documents, returns, and forms ensuring data accuracy and adherence to tax norms.
- Maintain regular coordination with team members for updated data and documentation.
- Uphold professionalism by following legal and regulatory standards while maintaining independence and objectivity.
Research and Technical Contributions
- Perform thorough tax research leveraging external market sources, internal knowledge bases, and tax databases to meet client needs.
- Provide technical input to strengthen the analysis and quality of deliverables.
Team Collaboration and Internal Processes
- Work constructively with peers to assess team performance and foster ongoing improvement.
- Aid in drafting engagement letters and client communication ensuring precision and compliance.
- Maintain control over research documentation and internal information repositories.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience ranging from fresh graduates up to 3 years in direct tax and international tax practice, ideally from Big 4 or Chartered Accountant firms.
- Solid grounding in income tax legislation and a strong interest in tax compliance and research.
- Commitment to regular technical training and knowledge exchange to improve service quality.
- Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage effectively within teams and with clients.
- Energetic and innovative mindset with an entrepreneurial spirit and sound business understanding.
- Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously with good planning and organizational capacity.
- Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities and evolving tax laws.
- Minimum educational qualification is graduation; MBA or CA credentials are not preferred for this position.
- Strong command of English and effective communication skills are required.
