Position Overview
The Dietary Clerk role involves overseeing and managing the selective menu process for patients, ensuring alignment with age-specific criteria and full compliance with diet orders prescribed by the medical team. This includes taking into account food allergies and guidelines from the approved Diet Manual. The clerk efficiently operates automated diet office software alongside Meditech systems to input patient-related medical orders such as supplements and tube feedings.
The role also includes supervising food service and hostess personnel, as well as the preparation and delivery of patient meals. A vital responsibility is maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols related to food safety, thereby safeguarding patient health.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a High School diploma or an equivalent credential. Experience required is a minimum of two years in health care food service, particularly involving therapeutic diets.
Skills and Abilities
The ability to communicate clearly both via telephone and in face-to-face interactions is essential. Candidates should be capable of managing peak periods characterized by rapid meal production and service demands while maintaining focus. Strong computer literacy is necessary for operating diet and medical information systems.
Working Conditions and Schedule
This full-time position operates within the OGH Food and Nutrition Department, with standard bi-weekly hours totaling 37.5. The schedule includes day and evening shifts without weekend, holiday, on-call, or rotational duties. The work setting is exclusively onsite.
Compensation and Additional Information
The salary range for this role is $16.00 to $20.63 per hour, with pay determined by education, experience, internal equity, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
