Job description

Overview

We are seeking a mid-level DevOps Software Engineer to design, maintain, and enhance the infrastructure supporting our game development pipeline. This role requires close collaboration with programmers, technical artists, and QA teams to ensure build systems are efficient, dependable, and user-friendly, enabling the creation of engaging games without tool-related impediments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for game builds across PC, console, and mobile platforms.
  • Overseeing build farms and automated build processes including nightly and CI builds to optimize performance.
  • Managing source control infrastructure using Perforce and Git/Git Large File Storage, ensuring effective branching strategies, repository health, and performance tuning.
  • Automating the packaging, deployment, and distribution processes for platform storefronts such as Steam, console certification submission tools, app stores, and internal QA builds.
  • Monitoring the health of build pipelines, troubleshooting failures, and reducing build and iteration times.
  • Supporting and enhancing automated testing frameworks including smoke tests, regression suites, and integration of crash reporting.
  • Managing both cloud and on-premises infrastructure using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, alongside Kubernetes and Docker, supporting build servers, backend services, and live operations tooling.
  • Developing and maintaining internal tools and scripts using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell to improve developer workflows.
  • Collaborating with engineering leadership to define infrastructure requirements for upcoming projects and platforms.
  • Handling incident response related to pipeline or build outages, conducting root cause analysis, and producing postmortem reports.
  • Documenting processes and providing training and support to programmers and technical staff utilizing the pipeline.
  • Coordinating with engine teams and technical leads to communicate necessary features and share best practices.
  • Integrating Unreal Engine features smoothly into studio projects and providing technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Offering flexible support during critical stages of development to meet project milestones.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in DevOps, build engineering, or related infrastructure roles; experience in the gaming industry is highly advantageous.
  • Proficient scripting/programming skills in Python, C#, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Practical experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or comparable systems.
  • Strong background in managing version control systems at scale, especially Perforce and/or Git with LFS.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with at least one major cloud service provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines including programming, art, and production teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a preference for automating repetitive tasks.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with Unreal Engine.
  • Knowledge of build processes for major game engines like Unity, Unreal, or proprietary systems.
  • Familiarity with console certification and submission pipelines (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch).
  • Understanding of live-operations backend services and telemetry pipelines.
  • Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Expertise in scaling build infrastructure for live-service or multi-title gaming studios.

Employee Benefits

  • A flexible working model that promotes work-life balance.
  • Subsidized car parking facilities.
  • Professional development and ongoing learning opportunities to support career advancement.
  • Employee referral program with attractive bonus incentives.
  • Private health insurance and fitness subsidy options.
  • Access to mental health and wellbeing resources.
  • Paid parental leave and childcare assistance.
  • Dedicated relaxation spaces including massage chairs.
  • Additional paid leave options such as birthday leave, Christmas shutdown, volunteer leave, and women’s health leave.
  • Complimentary coffee, daily snacks, and light breakfast.
