About Code Wizards Group and Role Overview

Code Wizards Group leads the world in backend and multiplayer infrastructure tailored for the gaming sector. Their scope spans from large-scale AAA console and PC titles to dynamic mobile indie games, enabling studios to deliver compelling multiplayer experiences. Within the group resides Multiplayer Wizards, a team dedicated to ensuring seamless launch and ongoing operation of games.

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join Multiplayer Wizards permanently. The role primarily focuses on specific game migration projects. This position demands a skilled DevOps professional with extensive gaming industry expertise, capable of maintaining and stabilizing game services under diverse challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and performing root cause investigations on client infrastructures, particularly during incidents.
  • Proactively suggesting improvements to workflows and efficiencies to enhance customer support.
  • Handling escalated problems involving multiple teams and providing guidance.
  • Developing efficient, scalable, and maintainable scripts and code.
  • Participating in regular on-call rotations to support both clients and internal teams.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven industry experience with live service game migrations in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of online game backend architectures; familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal is advantageous.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to learn new infrastructure tools and technologies.
  • Experience with automation using a variety of tools including Ansible, Terraform, Grafana, and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience migrating games between cloud providers, particularly moving to AWS.
  • Expertise in container technologies, virtual machine management, and Linux server administration.
  • Demonstrable programming skills with either professional or personal code projects.

Additional Information

Applicants should have prior exposure to the Games Industry as this will be preferred initially.
