DevOps Engineer | Release Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a proficient DevOps Engineer | Release Engineer focused on automation to enhance software delivery, streamline deployment, improve infrastructure stability, and manage release processes effectively. This role demands close collaboration with development, QA, security, and operations teams to develop robust CI/CD pipelines and ensure consistent, dependable software releases.

Primary Responsibilities

• Create, implement, and uphold dependable CI/CD pipelines for application development and deployment phases.
• Automate and oversee processes including builds, testing, deployment, and releases across development, staging, and production environments.
• Manage and refine software release workflows, schedules, version control, and deployment procedures.
• Coordinate release activities with stakeholders across development, QA, product management, infrastructure, and business units.
• Administer source code repositories, branching models, merging workflows, and release branches.
• Monitor deployment pipelines, troubleshooting build, integration, and deployment issues promptly.
• Apply Infrastructure as Code techniques to automate and standardize infrastructure provisioning.
• Administer cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.
• Develop and sustain automated scripting tools using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Manage and configure containerized environments employing Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Set up monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability tools for both applications and infrastructure.
• Analyze production incidents, deployment failures, and performance bottlenecks to implement corrective measures.
• Support rollback procedures, recovery, and remediation when deployments face issues.
• Define deployment standards, release checklists, and enforce environment controls and operational best practices.
• Secure management of configuration files, environment variables, secrets, and deployment parameters.
• Integrate security controls and vulnerability assessments within CI/CD pipelines alongside security teams.
• Embed automated testing and quality validation within delivery pipelines.
• Enhance build and deployment efficiency, reliability, and speed.
• Maintain detailed documentation such as deployment instructions, release notes, technical guides, and runbooks.
• Organize production release schedules and communicate deployment progress to relevant parties.
• Implement controlled deployment strategies like blue-green, rolling, and canary deployments.
• Monitor post-release system health to confirm application stability and performance.
• Participate actively in incident responses, root cause analysis, and post-release evaluations.
• Identify and automate repetitive operational tasks to minimize manual interventions.
• Continuously assess and adopt new DevOps tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance delivery processes.

Candidate Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• Proven experience in roles such as DevOps, release engineering, build engineering, systems engineering, or cloud operations.
• Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and release management principles.
• Hands-on expertise in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Proficient with Git and contemporary source control practices.
• Experience managing cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes or equivalent containerization technologies.
• Advantageous experience with Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Strong scripting abilities in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.
• Understanding of Linux and Windows server ecosystems.
• Good grasp of networking fundamentals like DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and load balancing.
• Experience utilizing monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Datadog.
• Awareness of application security, secrets management, access control, and vulnerability handling.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with root-cause analysis capabilities.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure during production releases and incident scenarios.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across functional teams.
• Excellent organizational aptitude to manage multiple releases and competing priorities.
• Solid understanding of automation, reliability, scalability, and deployment best practices.
