Job description
About the Role
This position offers a unique opportunity to design and develop DevOps infrastructure from scratch within an innovative Irish technology company specializing in AI, scientific computing, and drug discovery. Unlike typical roles focused on maintenance, this is a hands-on builder role that enables you to create the foundational infrastructure supporting compute-intensive research and development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop CI/CD pipelines from the ground up to streamline deployment processes.
- Design and manage containerized environments using Docker or Podman technologies.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure infrastructure reliability.
- Automate various infrastructure and engineering workflows for improved efficiency.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and optimize Linux-based systems and infrastructure.
- Collaborate closely with the CTO and R&D teams to address architecture and scalability challenges.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of three years experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Proficient hands-on experience with Docker, Docker Compose, or Podman for container management.
- Demonstrated ability to build CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins.
- Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals including shell scripting, networking, systemd, and storage solutions.
- Experience working with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code, preferably Ansible.
- Competence in Python scripting for automation tasks.
- A self-motivated and independent approach to building, troubleshooting, and fully owning infrastructure end-to-end.
Additional Information
This role is ideal for DevOps professionals who enjoy pioneering infrastructure solutions and tackling complex challenges rather than merely maintaining existing systems. You will actively contribute to technology that advances drug research and discovery.
