Role Overview

The Senior DevOps Engineer will spearhead the deployment and support of infrastructure as code and configuration management in AWS and Azure environments. This role emphasizes mentoring developers on infrastructure automation and championing configuration management initiatives. Collaboration with application development teams is crucial to promote infrastructure automation while adhering to DevOps principles, focusing on continuous integration and scalable cloud infrastructure.

Due to the sensitive nature of this position, candidates must be Australian citizens with preferably an active security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Advocate and execute DevOps best practices across engineering teams to bridge development and operations effectively.
• Partner closely with developers to embed DevOps culture and infrastructure as code methodologies.
• Develop and implement scalable infrastructure as code solutions using Terraform.
• Design and refine DevOps pipelines and repository strategies utilizing tools such as Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub, Harness, or equivalents.
• Manage configuration to ensure stable and consistent environments.
• Lead Kubernetes container orchestration for application deployment and scalability.
• Optionally implement secure secrets management using HashiCorp Vault.
• Produce detailed technical documentation and promote knowledge sharing within teams.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Significant experience implementing infrastructure as code and configuration management.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with developers to introduce infrastructure automation.
• Advanced expertise in DevOps areas, including pipeline creation, repository and artifact management, and configuration engineering.
• Expert-level proficiency with Terraform on AWS and/or Azure platforms.
• Strong background in configuration management and Bash scripting for automation.
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes and Docker containerization technologies.
• Proven leadership, mentoring skills, and ability to collaborate across functions.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting competencies.
• Australian citizenship with a minimum continuous residency of 3-5 years.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience with HashiCorp Vault for secrets management.
• Knowledge of OpenShift container platforms.
• Familiarity with AI Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and AI agent setup.
