Job description

Overview

The Intel Ireland Device Engineering team within the Yield department seeks experienced Device Engineers to join our cutting-edge technology Fab facility. This role, reporting to the Device team manager, involves pioneering work on the latest FinFET device technology, collaborating closely across Integration, Module, and Yield teams to enhance manufacturing process yield and device performance in a high-volume production environment, servicing both internal and external clients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead factory product power and performance initiatives as an active member or leader of the Performance TMI team, ensuring products meet stringent customer requirements through device targeting, customization, and variability enhancements.
  • Manage engineering projects aligned with High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) yield roadmaps to meet performance and device targeting goals.
  • Collaborate with the Technology Development group to innovate new device technologies, customize device architectures based on client demands, and transition developments into production fabs.
  • Engage or lead multidisciplinary engineering groups to diagnose device-related yield or performance issues and define corrective strategies to fulfill production yield/performance commitments.
  • Oversee New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts in production fabs and optimize device-related processes to align with foundry customer specifications.
  • Create predictive models of device performance during early to mid silicon development phases to maintain consistent baseline performance.
  • Partner with Process Integration engineers to simplify processes and execute cost reduction initiatives inline.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Device Physics, Electronics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry focused on advanced node devices or FEOL/BEOL integration.
  • Experience spanning 5 to 10 years with FinFET technology development or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Device Physics applied in real semiconductor fab settings.
  • Proven ability to rapidly analyze and resolve complex process issues.
  • Strong teamwork and partnership capabilities to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information clearly and influence decisions.
  • Self-driven and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Adaptability to shifting priorities, displaying maturity and flexibility under uncertainty.
  • Strong commitment to ambitious objectives with a proactive, urgent approach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced education such as a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science.
  • Experience steering product performance roadmaps collaboratively with Process, Integration, and Yield teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership in transferring processes to High Volume Manufacturing, solving integrated product yield/performance challenges.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills including influencing and motivating diverse teams.
  • Experience engaging with external foundry customers through technical collaboration.
  • Familiarity with GAA (Gate-All-Around) technology architecture and new semiconductor technology development initiatives.
  • Basic knowledge and collaborative experience with module processes such as lithography, dry/wet etch, CMP, diffusion, implant, thin films, and metrology.
