Role Purpose

We are seeking a mid-level Developer to join the Authorization team. You will own small to medium projects, contribute impactful product enhancements and customer-facing features, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to take initiatives from conception through deployment and support. This role focuses on creating and improving authorization systems that govern access and permissions across the 1Password ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver new features, product improvements, and bug resolutions within your team’s codebase.
• Take full ownership of small-to-medium scoped assignments with minimal supervision, ensuring end-to-end completion.
• Participate actively in the full software development lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, release, and post-launch maintenance.
• Write clear, maintainable, and well-tested code while continually enhancing testing approaches.
• Document work thoroughly to facilitate code review and future support by others.
• Provide constructive code reviews that uphold quality standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with customer support and related teams to troubleshoot issues and prioritize feedback.

Required Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Go programming language and familiarity with its associated toolsets needed to work independently.
• Experience in working with authorization or identity management systems, including a sound understanding of access control and permissions models.
• Ability to navigate complex existing codebases, apply established coding patterns, and suggest improvements.
• Commitment to producing high-quality code with attention to testing, maintainability, and well-written documentation.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively share progress, report blockers early, and align stakeholders on outcomes.
• A collaborative mindset embracing feedback and participation in team discussions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with production environment support and involvement in on-call or incident response duties.
• Knowledge of enhancing developer workflows including tooling, continuous integration/deployment pipelines, testing frameworks, and documentation strategies to boost team efficiency and code quality.

1Password integrates AI thoughtfully throughout product and engineering workflows to improve speed and quality while maintaining security and human oversight. Candidates are encouraged to responsibly use AI tools during application but expected to engage without AI aid during live interviews.

Compensation and Benefits

Canada-based employees receive a base salary ranging from 111000 CAD to 155000 CAD annually along with comprehensive health and dental benefits, RRSP matching, generous paid time off, equity grants, and incentive programs.
