Developer Advocate

Position Overview

SearchApi is seeking a Developer Advocate to serve as the company's technical representative to the developer community. This role involves creating and presenting real-world demonstrations using SearchApi's products, primarily through video content such as short clips, long-format videos, and webinars. You will engage directly with developers, both online and at live events, and relay their feedback to the internal product teams. Work Style and Expectations

• Create original demos for presentations; the code demonstrated must be your own and functional.
• Comfortably present on camera and interact with developer audiences.

• Produce content with either hands-on editing or by directing the final edits while owning the output.
• Deliver content consistently on a steady schedule rather than sporadically.

Use of AI

Utilize AI tools to aid in scripting, editing, and building demos, but all technical statements made on camera must be personally defendable and accurate. You are fully responsible for the technical integrity of published content.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-camera representative hosting video formats that engage developers, including shorts, long-form content, and webinars.
• Develop and demonstrate functional demos using the API and related technologies.
• Ensure SearchApi is mentioned in key developer conversations, reviews, and best-of compilations based on merit.
• Participate actively in developer-focused forums such as talks, podcasts, livestreams, and community platforms.
• Manage technical aspects of social media and community engagement.
• Collect developer feedback, addressing pain points and feature requests, and communicate these insights to the product team.
• Create written materials as needed, including product launch posts, integration guidelines, and sample applications.

• Highly technical with the ability to construct the demos you showcase.
• Confident, clear, and natural communication skills on camera and in public presentations.
• Fluency in native or near-native English, capturing subtle nuances.
• Owns high-quality audio and video production equipment and workspace.
• Self-motivated, disciplined, and consistent in content creation without external prompts.
• Enthusiastic about engaging with developers, providing support, and building a community.

Required Experience

• Provide links to videos featuring technically authentic on-camera content you personally created.

Preferred Qualifications

• Have an existing audience or follower base.
• Experience giving talks at conferences, participating in podcasts, or hosting livestreams.
• Background in community building through platforms like Discord, forums, or open-source contributions.
• Proficiency with developer tools or API content creation, and strong video editing capabilities.
