Overview
This role seeks a Developer Advocate based in Australia to bridge the gap between developers and the organization by leveraging technical expertise, community engagement, and educational content. The position blends deep knowledge of web technologies and APIs with public speaking, content creation, and fostering developer relationships. The advocate will represent developer interests at industry events and produce educational materials to simplify integration of complex data and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the company at developer-focused events such as conferences, meetups, webinars, podcasts, panels, and other forums.
- Identify and assess opportunities for speaking engagements, sponsorships, partnerships, and community participation in line with strategic objectives.
- Plan and deliver engaging technical presentations, workshops, live demos, webinars, and panel discussions tailored for developer audiences.
- Develop and sustain meaningful connections with developers, community figures, event organizers, technology partners, and external advocates.
- Expand and nurture a network of external advocates sharing experiences with web data, APIs, and related technologies.
- Maintain active engagement across social media, forums, open-source communities, and technical channels.
- Create comprehensive technical content including tutorials, videos, articles, presentations, demos, and code samples to facilitate tool adoption.
- Showcase practical approaches to web scraping, data extraction, API integration, and web data challenges.
- Author technical blog posts both internally and for external publications.
- Identify and contribute to developer and open-source community initiatives.
- Voice developer perspectives within marketing and organizational decisions to ensure community requirements shape strategy.
- Spot opportunities to enhance developer documentation and directly improve documentation quality.
- Produce and distribute content for social media platforms that resonates with technical audiences.
- Explore emerging workflows, including applications leveraging large language models (LLMs) and AI agents, demonstrating how web data supports AI-focused development.
- Measure and analyze the impact of events, partnerships, content, and community efforts to refine future engagement.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in developer advocacy, relations, community engagement, or a related technical discipline.
- Established presence or following within relevant developer or technical communities.
- Strong knowledge of web technologies, APIs, data extraction, and web scraping techniques.
- Proficiency in Python programming demonstrated through prior experience.
- Authentic interest in web data extraction and its associated technologies.
- Passion for collaborating with developers to facilitate learning, problem-solving, and adoption of new technologies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proven experience in technical presentations and public speaking.
- Experience in managing developer communities, social media engagement, blogging, or creating technical content.
- Skills in community building and event hosting are advantageous.
- Self-driven, organized, and able to manage priorities independently.
- Capability to work autonomously while being an effective team player in a distributed environment.
- Strong relationship-building aptitude and ability to convey technical ideas to varied audiences.
- Experience with Scrapy, headless browsers, or related web scraping tools is a plus but not mandatory.
