The Design Technology Teacher position at an ACG College involves guiding students from Year 7 to 13 through the Cambridge International curriculum’s IGCSE, AS, and A2 Design and Technology courses. The role emphasizes fostering creativity, practical skills, and critical thinking through hands-on, workshop-based learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver compelling instruction and assessments in Design Technology aligned with the curriculum and college policies.
• Stay current with subject matter expertise and engage in continuous professional development and evaluations.
• Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student achievement.
• Incorporate educational technology to enhance learning outcomes effectively.
• Develop and prepare high-quality teaching materials, assessments, and classroom activities.
• Accurately track and assess student progress while providing timely feedback.
• Assign purposeful homework, projects, and extension tasks to reinforce independent learning.
• Consistently manage classroom behavior, encouraging high standards of conduct and well-being.
• Maintain professional communication with parents and fulfill administrative, attendance, and reporting duties.
• Actively participate in the wider school community, including pastoral care duties, tutoring, open days, and events.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proficient in technical drawing, visual communication, and design documentation.
• Experience with woodworking, metalwork, CAD design, 3D printing, and laser cutting is favorable.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards in workshop environments to ensure a safe learning space.
• Capability to safely demonstrate and oversee the use of various tools and machinery such as hand tools, band saws, and laser cutters.
• Familiarity with the Cambridge curriculum is advantageous but not mandatory.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possession of a recognized teaching certification such as a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or equivalent.
• New Zealand Teacher Registration is required.

• Availability to participate in school events beyond regular hours (e.g., performances, parent-teacher meetings).
