Design Manager

Overview

We are seeking a Design Manager to oversee the comprehensive design process from initial concept through to construction completion and handover. The role requires seamless coordination among consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure design integration and practical constructability. The Design Manager will also maintain compliance with client specifications, local regulations, and contract requirements, while supporting construction activities on-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the entire design lifecycle from concept development to project handover phases.
• Coordinate design activities across consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams ensuring integration and constructability.
• Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP plans to detect clashes and resolve design-related issues.
• Lead design coordination meetings and prompt resolution of design matters.
• Analyze consultant submissions, shop drawings, material submissions, RFIs, and other technical documents.
• Ensure designs comply with client requirements, contracts, local regulations, and authority approvals.
• Collaborate with project management and site teams to facilitate construction and troubleshoot engineering challenges.
• Manage design outputs and enforce adherence to approved timelines.
• Track design modifications and evaluate impacts on project cost, quality, and schedule.
• Engage in value engineering efforts to optimize costs without sacrificing quality.
• Liaise with government entities and utility providers to secure necessary permits and approvals.
• Maintain detailed records of design reviews, approvals, and revisions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
• Between 10 to 15 years of design management experience in the construction sector.
• Track record managing large-scale projects such as high-rise buildings, residential, commercial, hospitality, or mixed-use developments.
• Experience with Tier-1 contractors in the UAE or GCC region is preferred.
• Deep understanding of local authority requirements and regulatory approval procedures.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership and aptitude in stakeholder management.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies and design coordination.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM software, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Effective problem-solving and decisive decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Capable of handling multiple projects and prioritizing conflicting deadlines.
• Good commercial insight and risk mitigation skills.
