About the Role

Become an integral part of Bunnings as a Department Manager tasked with overseeing daily operations, sales, and inventory management within your specialty department. You will collaborate with other Department Managers across areas such as Service, Inside the Home, Builders, and Lifestyles & Garden. Reporting to the Operations Manager and Complex Manager, you will guide and support a team of more than 20 members, ensuring they are efficient, organized, and equipped to provide excellent customer service. Your responsibilities include driving service standards, improving operations, and presenting the widest product range at the best prices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain a team-oriented, safe work environment while covering duty management duties including store opening and closing on weekdays and weekends.
  • Enhance team skills focusing on customer experience, safety culture, and compliance through engagement, coaching, and performance management.
  • Strategically plan team rosters and drive department sales by effective merchandising and monitoring key performance metrics.
  • Respond to customer feedback to enhance the full customer journey.
  • Manage stock accuracy, replenishment discipline, and loss prevention procedures to maintain inventory integrity.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will be dynamic leaders with strong capabilities in managing teams, safety, and specialty product knowledge. Experience in retail or comparable high-volume customer service environments is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to balance various responsibilities, influence stakeholders, and surpass key performance indicators while delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience managing large teams (20+ members) with a focus on engagement, coaching, and teamwork.
  • Prior role in retail or a similar customer-centric, high-volume operation.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe work environment and enforcing safety policies and procedures.
  • Experience supervising store openings and closings, ensuring operational flow through busy periods including weekends.
  • Capability to develop team members through clear expectations, ongoing performance discussions, and recognition programs.
  • Proven ability in planning and rostering to meet customer service promises effectively.
  • Strong skills in merchandising excellence, sales monitoring, stock control, and loss prevention.
