Role Overview
As a Demi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting food for a la carte, buffet, and pastry services with high standards. You will maintain cleanliness, safety, and order in the kitchen, oversee kitchen operations during absence of senior chefs, collaborate with other departments to improve guest experience, and contribute creatively to menu development while keeping up with food trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present high-quality dishes for various service types including pastries, cakes, and breads, especially sourdough-based and culturally seasonal items.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment consistently.
- Take charge of kitchen operations when the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs are not present.
- Work alongside other departments to enhance guests’ overall experience.
- Keep abreast of culinary trends and assist in developing innovative menu items.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum three years’ experience in 4-to-5-star hotels or premium restaurants, with proven pastry, cake, and bread-making skills.
- Formal culinary arts qualification and strong technical culinary abilities.
- Creative, driven, and passionate about food and cooking.
- Ability to work independently during overnight shifts, overseeing food preparation and service.
- Competence in following detailed mise en place and food prep instructions.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including mornings and evenings.
