About the Role and Company
Join Deloitte's Technology & Transformation practice in Wellington, working within the Systems Delivery & Modernisation team to deliver high-quality and pragmatic projects and programmes. This role involves senior leadership across various engagements, ensuring alignment with client goals and successful delivery in complex settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee delivery of complex projects or programmes ensuring they meet client objectives
- Take full responsibility for end-to-end delivery aspects including scope, timelines, finances, and quality standards
- Develop and adapt delivery strategies and methodologies based on client context and complexity
- Collaborate closely with Programme Directors and senior client leaders to shape programme decisions and direction
- Serve as a trusted advisor at senior levels by providing practical guidance on risks, trade-offs, and priorities in delivery
- Proactively ensure delivery assurance by spotting issues early and applying corrective actions before escalation
- Lead recovery and turnaround efforts for projects or workstreams facing challenges
- Build and maintain strong executive stakeholder relationships, including active participation in Steering Committees
- Manage commercial performance involving budgeting, forecasting, and maintaining margin discipline
- Lead, mentor, and scale high-performing teams across multiple projects
- Take a prominent role in business development activities such as shaping opportunities, leading proposals, and converting pipelines
- Contribute to practice growth through capability building, mentoring, and embedding best delivery practices
Required Expertise and Qualifications
- Extensive experience managing complex projects and/or programmes from inception to completion
- Proven track record of owning delivery outcomes including financial management and risk mitigation
- Strong knowledge of programme and project governance with ability to enhance delivery environments
- Capability to work with senior stakeholders (General Manager/Executive level) influencing decisions and fostering trust
- Solid commercial acumen managing budgets, forecasts, and profitable delivery
- Experience operating in multifaceted environments involving multiple vendors and teams
- Adept at anticipating delivery risks and effectively implementing pragmatic solutions
- Demonstrated leadership skills in developing teams and supervising senior staff
- Experience in proposal development, bidding, and client pursuit activities
- Strong consulting skills including structured problem solving, clear communication, and focus on outcomes
- Background in Big Four or similar consulting environment is highly desirable
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, or SAFe are beneficial
