Role Overview

The Limerick-based Defect/Integration team is looking for a motivated engineer with a curious and adaptable mindset, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the capability to handle multiple simultaneous projects. This role offers broad learning opportunities across the wafer fabrication environment, coinciding with the facility's upcoming expansion to double capacity and triple output by 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead defect reduction and yield enhancement initiatives for assigned production layers or modules.
• Identify the primary contributors to defect density and spearhead collaborative efforts with relevant workcentres to implement improvements.
• Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to monitor inline defects and manage control limits to balance between sensitivity and avoiding false alerts.
• Detect and rapidly respond to excursions, ensuring containment and measures to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain and refine inspection recipes for optimal defect capture and minimal false alarms.
• Conduct root cause analyses for complex technical issues affecting defects or yield losses using advanced data mining tools and methods.
• Design and implement experiments to aid problem resolution, employing statistical and analytical tools.
• Collaborate closely across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to implement lasting solutions and prevent defect recurrence.
• Develop clear and concise presentations to communicate complex issues effectively.
• Manage projects from scoping to completion with realistic timelines, maintaining momentum, overcoming challenges, and aligning resources.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong analytical skills with expertise in defect data mining using tools like Klarity Defect, SAS, JMP, and ACE.
• Solid foundation in Statistical Process Control, including maintaining defect charts with appropriate control limits and quickly identifying process shifts.
• Understanding of broader statistics principles.
• Knowledge or eagerness to learn various wafer fabrication processes and tool interactions to establish robust process windows.
• Ability to read and interpret wafer cross sections including FIB, SEM, TEM, and EDX; SEM and FIB analysis skills are advantageous.
• Experience designing experiments to solve problems efficiently.
• Project management capabilities to handle defect reduction and yield improvement efforts effectively.
• Python programming skills are beneficial but not mandatory.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to work collaboratively and communicate technical content clearly.

Additional Information

This position involves travel approximately 10% of the time and operates on a first shift/day schedule.
