Day Tool Pusher

Overview

The Day Tool Pusher is responsible for overseeing the entire drilling operations during the day shift, ensuring safe and efficient completion of well and drilling activities. This role requires close coordination with the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM), prioritizing personnel safety, environmental care, and equipment integrity to maximize operational efficiency.

Core Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and effectiveness of personnel and equipment on the drill floor and related areas.
• Plan and schedule drilling activities, guiding personnel to meet client expectations.
• Obtain OIM approval for any deviations from the client’s well plan and ensure proper documentation by Client representatives.
• Collaborate with OIM, Night Tool Pusher, and Client representatives to monitor drilling progress and communicate any plan changes to the driller.
• Relieve the driller at the control console when operationally required.
• Pre-plan equipment readiness for upcoming drilling or workover phases.
• Supervise drilling crew continuously, ensuring stable well conditions during trips, BHA work, and troubleshooting.
• Operate the drilling unit strictly following company Drilling & Well Control manuals and approve related work permits.
• Maintain and test well control equipment to ensure readiness and compliance with company and client standards.
• Lead comprehensive well control monitoring and calculations to detect and respond promptly to potential issues.
• Participate in the Emergency Response Team, conduct safety drills, and instruct personnel on emergency procedures.
• Support OIM/Night Tool Pusher in maintaining adequate stock of parts and materials.
• Ensure maintenance and repair of drilling equipment are completed and documented properly.
• Prepare the rig for moves, securing all critical components with the crew’s assistance.
• Foster effective working relationships with various departments, third parties, and client representatives, addressing client needs after management approval.
• Keep accurate logs and submit timely reports documenting drilling operations, equipment status, and incidents.
• Provide clear guidance, training, and mentorship to team members, encouraging skill development and safe work practices.
• Evaluate team performance regularly, identifying opportunities for improvement, and promote a culture of competency and performance management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of High School education or Vocational/Technical qualification.
• At least 12 years of experience in drilling and workover operations, including roles as Assistant Driller and Driller.
• Minimum one year of experience in the current role as Tool Pusher.
• Demonstrated offshore rig experience.

Skills & Competencies

• Intermediate proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong mathematical skills relevant to drilling operations.
• Situational awareness, effective communication, teamwork, and stress/fatigue management.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent climbing of stairs and ladders.
• Regular bending, twisting, and standing.
• Ability to endure extreme outdoor weather conditions including noise, humidity, cold, and heat.
• Capable of working shifts up to 12 hours per day.

Certifications

• Compliance with ADES Training Matrix.
• Valid Well Control certification (Well Sharp or IADC).
