Databricks Engineer

Role Overview

DWS is recruiting a Databricks Engineer for a major organisation based in Melbourne that is initiating a comprehensive Data & AI transformation. The position offers a unique chance to influence the foundational design of a greenfield Databricks platform, establish best practices, create scalable data solutions, and support a strategic roadmap for platform and capability enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and improve data pipelines within the Databricks environment.
• Participate in building a state-of-the-art cloud data ecosystem.
• Offer technical expertise and guidance on Databricks architecture, standards, and optimal practices.
• Engage collaboratively with both business and technology teams to achieve data-driven objectives.
• Support growth and maturation of Data & AI capabilities across a diverse enterprise scale.
• Provide mentorship and hands-on contribution towards team project delivery.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive hands-on experience with the Databricks platform.
• Proven track record in architecting and executing modern data engineering pipelines.
• Deep expertise in developing, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines.
• Experience working within cloud-based data infrastructures.
• Strong ability to influence technical directions and advocate engineering best practices.
• Exceptional communication skills suited for stakeholder engagement.
• Collaborative mindset with pragmatic problem-solving approach.
• Enthusiasm for constructing scalable and sustainable data platforms.

Additional Information

• Position Type: Permanent full-time role.
• Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
• Work Arrangement: Hybrid, requiring onsite presence 3 or more days per week.
• Salary Range: AUD 165,000 to 190,000 annually (inclusive of superannuation), depending on experience.
• Start Date: Immediate availability preferred.
• Applicant Eligibility: Candidates must possess Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or valid permanent work rights; no visa sponsorship is available.
