Job description
Job Overview
We are in search of a dedicated Database Administrator responsible for managing the performance, integrity, security, availability, and recovery of all database environments supporting the Bank's systems and services. This role ensures that critical business databases remain safe, accessible, optimized, and comply with regulatory and operational standards. The position also provides technical leadership in database architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, and capacity planning.
Core Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain database environments for production, testing, development, and disaster recovery purposes.
- Manage efficient and secure operation of database platforms by maintaining standards and operational procedures.
- Monitor database performance and availability, perform tuning, analyze and resolve performance issues including bottlenecks.
- Optimize queries, indices, and database structures for improved efficiency.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies, conducting validation tests and participating in disaster recovery exercises to meet recovery objectives.
- Enforce database security measures by managing user access, privileged accounts, monitoring unauthorized access attempts, and ensuring compliance with security policies.
- Provide support for critical business applications by resolving incidents and requests related to databases, supporting application implementation and upgrades, and participating in on-call preventive coverage as required.
- Monitor database growth and resource utilization, plan database upgrades, migrations, patching, and ensure infrastructure scalability to support business expansion.
- Maintain governance and compliance by supporting audits, keeping documentation and inventory up to date, and adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Engage in project activities including database architecture review, system integrations, technological updates, and offering technical recommendations and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields.
- A minimum of five years' experience as a Database Administrator handling large-scale enterprise databases.
- Proven expertise in backup, recovery, and performance optimization of databases.
- Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL certifications, and ITIL Foundation are preferred.
