Data Science Manager

Overview

We are seeking a Data Science Manager to lead and manage the development of AI and data science initiatives within the Enterprise Data & Analytics (ED&A) department at Qatar Airways in Doha. This position is crucial for advancing the enterprise-wide Data and AI Strategy by implementing advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions that enhance operational and strategic decision-making across multiple domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Shape and execute the data science and AI roadmap aligned with enterprise priorities and business goals.
• Lead the end-to-end development and delivery of AI use cases across all assigned ED&A portfolios.
• Ensure high data quality, accuracy, and enrichment of datasets managed by the department.
• Act as a subject-matter expert for AI and data modeling initiatives within ED&A portfolios.
• Design and deploy AI models and algorithms to automate analytics, detecting trends, risks, and anomalies.
• Develop robust, scalable predictive data models for planning, forecasting, and reporting.
• Coordinate communication between data engineering teams and stakeholders to clarify and refine requirements.
• Deliver actionable insights from AI outputs to influence business strategies and portfolio objectives.
• Continuously enhance existing models and analytic tools for greater efficiency and precision.
• Apply agile methodologies to prioritize and manage timely project deliverables.
• Identify innovative opportunities to optimize processes and generate value across ED&A portfolios.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of the Department.
• Set department objectives and priorities to align with overall business goals.
• Regularly review and adjust team objectives, plans, and practices as needed.
• Supervise and direct daily team activities, recruit, train, develop, and discipline staff to maintain excellent service.
• Provide training and development to ensure succession planning and national talent development by mentoring national employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification with at least 6 years of relevant professional experience.
• Extensive experience in leading and managing data science and AI projects and delivering successful AI use cases.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and other key programming languages for data analysis and AI development.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services for designing, developing, and deploying scalable AI and data science solutions.
• Ability to identify and prioritize AI use cases that optimize business processes and create measurable value.
• Proven skills in handling and analyzing large, complex datasets using advanced analytics to support strategic decisions.
