About the Role
Join the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) in Auckland as a Data Governance Implementation Specialist on a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2027. You will be a key player in establishing foundational data governance structures that support the FMA's journey towards becoming a data-driven organisation. Working within the Data & Analytics team, your efforts will ensure data is well-managed, understood, and effectively utilized across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement data governance frameworks, standards, and processes throughout the FMA.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data ownership, stewardship, and accountability roles.
- Maintain metadata repositories, information asset inventories, and enforce data quality controls.
- Translate complex technical concepts into practical guidance tailored for business teams.
About You
You are an experienced professional with a strong background in data governance, information management, or data quality assurance. Comfortable engaging both technical and non-technical audiences, you excel at converting complex ideas into clear, actionable plans. Previous roles may include Data Governance Advisor, Information Management Specialist, or Knowledge Management Specialist.
- Proven experience in applying data governance, metadata management, stewardship, or data quality techniques.
- Excellent communication and relationship management abilities.
- Solid understanding of data governance, information management, and data quality standards.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview or comparable governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) is advantageous.
- A pragmatic and delivery-oriented mindset, with genuine enthusiasm to help organisations derive maximum value from data.
