Data Governance Consultant

Overview

This position involves leading the design and deployment of comprehensive Data Governance frameworks within the enterprise, ensuring alignment with corporate data strategies and regulatory compliance. The role includes implementation of Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog (CDGC) solutions, encompassing metadata management, business glossary creation, data quality stewardship, and compliance oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and operationalize enterprise-wide Data Governance strategies, policies, and procedures alongside defining governance models, decision rights, and escalation methods.
• Develop and assign governance roles such as Data Owners, Stewards, Custodians, and council members to ensure clear accountability.
• Prepare governance implementation roadmaps that support organizational requirements and compliance standards.
• Lead the deployment and configuration of Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog platforms, including setup of business glossaries, metadata catalogs, classifications, and workflow automations.
• Utilize automated metadata harvesting and lineage tracking functionalities to enhance data visibility.
• Facilitate integration of governance tools with enterprise data environments like Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, and SQL systems.
• Establish enterprise metadata management practices and curate business glossaries and taxonomy frameworks that advance discoverability and comprehension of critical data assets.
• Define critical data elements, data quality criteria, and work with business units to monitor data quality KPIs; aid in issue resolution and governance adherence.
• Document complete data lineage and enforce governance controls around data classification, sensitive data handling, and security compliance.
• Manage stakeholder engagement through workshops and interviews, document governance requirements, and facilitate governance councils.
• Report governance progress, metrics, and recommendations to executive and business leadership groups.

Essential Technical Expertise

• Extensive experience with Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog (CDGC), Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC), Axon, and Data Quality modules.
• Knowledge in Metadata and Business Glossary Management alongside Data Catalog implementations.
• Proficient in Data Lineage, Impact Analysis, Stewardship processes, and Data Quality frameworks.
• Experience handling Data Classification and sensitive data governance challenges.
• Strong SQL skills and the ability to perform detailed data analysis.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, and Databricks.
• Understanding of governance operating models including RACI frameworks.
