This is a fully remote position available to candidates based in Canada. Note that relocation support is not provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain reliable computed data tables integrating diverse data sources, including unstructured formats like video and audio, as well as sensor and customer metadata.
- Manipulate and merge external datasets with internal company data.
- Guarantee delivery of robust, high-availability data assets, including those used directly by customers.

- Embody and promote Samsara’s cultural principles emphasizing customer success, long-term value, growth mindset, inclusivity, and teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Over four years of experience in data engineering roles.
- Proven capability designing scalable data models.
- Experience in constructing ETL pipelines to process large-scale data volumes.
- Proficiency with Spark-based data platforms.
- Working knowledge of at least one data orchestration framework such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
- Strong skills in SQL, Python, and REST API consumption.
- Good understanding of software engineering fundamentals and backend systems code.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git and GitHub.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working with time series and late-arriving data.
- Knowledge of platforms including Databricks, Delta Lakes, and Dagster.
- Previous roles involving public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience managing product-first party data models.
- Exposure to complex datasets including machine learning outputs or client side signals.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this full-time position is CAD 110,500 to CAD 143,000. Compensation varies based on location, skills, experience, and knowledge. Additionally, eligible candidates receive an initial Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) grant without a vesting cliff, plus ongoing refresh grants tied to performance and governed by plan terms.
Samsara offers above-market total rewards that include base pay, performance bonuses, and equity participation in a fast-growing public company. We foster a flexible work model with options for remote, hybrid, or in-office arrangements depending on operational requirements.
