Job description
Role Overview
As the Cybersecurity Manager at Tasman District Council, you will spearhead the protection of the Council’s digital assets and future. This pivotal role entails leading the cybersecurity strategy, governance, and assurance functions, delivering expert advice to senior leadership and embedding risk management throughout digital operations. Located in Richmond, you will collaborate closely with senior leaders to enhance cybersecurity readiness, manage emerging risks, and promote secure technology adoption, including AI services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the cybersecurity program, ensuring robust risk management and assurance across projects, cloud environments, applications, and infrastructure.
- Influence solution designs to embed security-by-design principles.
- Guide the responsible adoption of emerging technologies such as AI while balancing innovation and risk.
- Advise technical specialists, project teams, managers, and senior leaders, translating complex cybersecurity issues into clear, actionable guidance.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience. You must possess wide-ranging technical expertise including identity and access management, cloud and network security, vulnerability management, incident response, and security assurance. Additionally, excellent communication skills are essential for conveying technical information effectively to varied audiences.
