Role Overview

Reporting to the Cyber Security Manager for Surface Ships, the Cyber Security Architect ensures robust cyber security controls protect digital assets and operational technology while meeting compliance standards. This role collaborates closely with Cyber Security and Architecture teams to design secure systems aligned with the organization's risk appetite. A strong grasp of ICT systems and up-to-date security standards is essential to manage cyber risks effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on security measures during project lifecycles, guiding teams to implement standards and controls based on risk and compliance.
• Work alongside Digital, Data, and Cyber teams to develop a Modern Defensible Architecture.
• Provide expert input on security design for Cloud, Web, Application, IT, IoT, and Operational Technology systems.
• Lead Threat Modelling and risk assessment within Surface Ships operations.
• Remain well-informed of Surface Ships ICT security status and proactively recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with management to research and develop forward-looking security architectures aligned with business strategies.
• Ensure cyber architecture documentation aligns with organization-wide standards and mentor team members by offering cybersecurity advice.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience in Identity, Network Security, Cloud Security, Infrastructure, Operating Systems, and Applications.
• Operational Technology experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Information Security Manual (ISM) and international standards like NIST, ISO, PCI DSS relevant to ICT Security.
• Knowledge of Enterprise and Security Architecture frameworks such as SABSA and TOGAF.
• Experience guiding project delivery through secure solution design and security principle implementation.
• Professional certifications like CISSP or CISM are preferred.
• Degree in ICT or Engineering-related field is desirable.
• Must have or be eligible for Defence security clearance (NV1) and clearance under International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR).
