About the Role

As a Customer Delivery Driver, you will play a crucial role delivering online orders directly to customers' homes, bringing along energy, warmth, and care in line with our dedication to providing everything our customers expect from shopping with us.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the welcoming face of the company at each delivery location, ensuring customers feel valued through a considerate, friendly, and helpful doorstep service
• Operate 3.5 tonne refrigerated vans to deliver groceries punctually and in excellent condition
• Perform routine checks to confirm that the vehicle is roadworthy, clean, and organized, ensuring customer goods are securely loaded before departure
• Follow assigned delivery routes while driving safely across diverse environments, weather, and traffic conditions
• Handle shopping items weighing up to 15kg and deliver to various properties that may involve navigating steps, lifts, or longer distances from the vehicle
• Communicate effectively with customers about any delays, inquiries, or modifications to their orders
• Assist with store duties as needed when not engaged in deliveries

Candidate Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old, with a valid full UK or EU driving license held for a minimum of 12 months and not exceeding six penalty points
• Right to Work eligibility in the UK is mandatory
• Complete an online driving risk assessment prior to selection and a practical driving assessment upon joining
• Must be comfortable and skilled at safely handling larger delivery vehicles in varied driving conditions, from busy urban streets to narrow rural lanes
• Physical stamina to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment involving repeated lifting of containers up to 15kg
• Strong problem-solving ability, good decision-making skills, and the capability to use initiative during deliveries
• Affability and enthusiasm for assisting customers with pride in providing an outstanding delivery experience
• Willingness to work independently as well as collaboratively within the broader store team
• Flexibility to support in-store tasks and to embrace new challenges as they arise
• Openness to learning and mastering route and delivery technology

Driving Safety Measures

To promote a safe driving environment, in-cab AI camera systems monitor driving behaviour to ensure compliance with road safety rules and defensive driving standards, protecting drivers and other road users alike.
