Custodian II

Position Summary

Baker School District 5J is looking to fill a full-time Custodian II position at South Baker Intermediate for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout district facilities and grounds. This role collaborates with other maintenance and custodial personnel to ensure all equipment and buildings are in good working condition, including some travel as necessary. Potential supervisory duties are also part of the position.

Work Schedule

The position requires working 8 hours daily from Monday to Friday, starting as soon as possible.

Main Responsibilities

• Potentially supervise Custodian I staff members.
• Create, implement, and oversee work plans and schedules for custodial operations.
• Order necessary custodial and maintenance supplies for both the building and grounds.
• Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the building, equipment, and grounds; perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Conduct regular cleaning including windows, baseboards, and thorough decontamination of surfaces such as doorknobs, rails, and workspaces especially after exposure to blood or infectious materials to prevent blood borne pathogen exposure.
• Prepare rooms for functions and ensure building security is maintained.
• Manage maintenance requests by directing them to the proper supervisor and ensuring timely repairs.
• Address staff requests prioritizing work schedule and safety concerns.
• Support safety drills by coordinating with fire department, alarm companies, and other emergency contacts as needed.
• Assist in performing safety inspections and submit monthly reports to supervisors; regularly monitor facilities for wear, vandalism, and hazards ensuring maintenance is completed promptly.
• Assist with student supervision within assigned custodial areas.
• Participate in district-sponsored professional development and in-service training programs when requested.
• Carry out additional duties assigned by the district.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay scale for the 2026-2027 school year ranges from $20.93 to $26.74, determined in accordance with the district's collective bargaining agreement. Baker School District 5J provides a comprehensive benefits package including health and retirement plans, with the district covering the 6% employee PERS contribution as required by state laws.
