Role Overview

Russell McVeagh's National Finance team is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to assist with overseeing the accounts receivable process and ensuring customer account information remains current. This position supports the Credit and Collections Manager in safeguarding the firm's cash flow and mitigating credit exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Credit and Collections Manager with client credit assessments and managing cash collections.
  • Match invoice records against payments to validate accuracy and resolve any inconsistencies.
  • Keep detailed and organized documentation within the firm's document management system.
  • Support the issuance of monthly customer account statements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and clients to quickly address billing conflicts and disputes.
  • Recommend improvements to strengthen the efficiency of accounts receivable workflows.
  • Provide backup assistance to the Credit and Collections Manager and finance team as required.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of three years' experience in credit control is essential.
  • Prior experience in a professional services environment such as legal, accounting, or consulting firms is highly advantageous.
  • Strong verbal communication and professional phone etiquette.
  • Methodical, highly organized, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical skills and confident working with figures.
  • Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality handling sensitive information, particularly in legal or professional services contexts.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines efficiently.
  • Positive, proactive attitude and a collaborative team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; familiarity with financial/practice management software like Aderant or Elite is preferred.
