Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Formal Verification Engineer to lead and evolve our formal verification methodology specifically for cutting-edge CPU IP designs. You will ensure top-tier verification quality and efficiency amidst demanding timelines by collaborating closely with architectural, design, and central formal teams. This role places you within a team of industry experts driving forward the latest CPU IP technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement formal verification methodologies that thoroughly validate CPU designs, covering both datapath and control logic.
• Scale formal verification approaches to accommodate large, mission-critical designs, ensuring flawless quality throughout the IP lifecycle.
• Tackle convergence issues employing advanced strategies such as induction proofs, cone-of-influence (COI) reduction, and abstraction techniques.
• Develop and oversee a robust formal verification infrastructure that supports adoption across various engineering teams.
• Investigate formal modeling of ISA and memory architectures for CPU IP.
• Remain updated with the latest innovations in formal verification and build strong technical collaboration within AMD’s design communities and EDA partners.
• Lead cross-functional cooperation and promote formal verification excellence company-wide.

Preferred Experience

• Proven hands-on experience in developing Assertion IP (AIP) and crafting end-to-end verification properties.
• Strong debugging capabilities for microarchitecture functional issues.
• Advanced user proficiency with formal verification tools such as JasperGold and VC Formal from academic and commercial sources.
• Track record of delivering rigorous high-quality verification on extensive processor projects within restricted timelines.
• Deep understanding of computer architecture and CPU pipeline internals.
• Experience in building infrastructure for various formal applications: FPV, FXP (x-prop), DPV, SEC, among others.

Academic Credentials

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
