About the Role

Tharani Infra Private Limited is seeking a skilled Manager - Costing / Billing Engineer based in Chennai. This position involves overseeing all aspects of client and subcontractor billing, including measurements, bill certification, variations, and maintaining thorough commercial documentation for interior fit-out projects. The role demands close site coordination, rigorous documentation practices, and timely billing execution to ensure accurate financial closure.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate client RA bills aligned with approved Bill of Quantities (BOQ), verified site progress, and precise measurements.
• Work closely with site personnel to gather accurate measurement data and billing inputs.
• Maintain and update measurement sheets alongside supporting billing documentation.
• Manage bill processing stages including submission, certification, and payment follow-up.
• Prepare subcontractor invoices based on executed work quantities and contracts, verifying claims prior to approval.
• Identify extra or additional work items, document variations comprehensively, and prepare related variation bills with necessary approvals and supporting documents.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, and project staff to secure bill certifications promptly.
• Track billing status via detailed billing trackers and reconcile billed quantities against BOQ and site progress.
• Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Accounts, Procurement, and Costing teams for seamless commercial processes.
• Keep organized records of work orders, contract amendments, approvals, measurements, and correspondence.
• Assist in final bill preparations and concluding project accounts.
• Ensure no completed work is omitted from billing because of documentation gaps.
• Monitor delays in certification and alert management on potential commercial risks.

Candidate Requirements

• Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in billing, preferably within interior fit-out or commercial construction sectors.
• Strong expertise in RA billing, measurement techniques, BOQ interpretation, variation handling, and subcontractor billing procedures.
• Comprehensive understanding of civil engineering and interior finishing works.
• Proficient Excel skills to develop and manage billing trackers and measurement documentation.
• Meticulous documentation and effective follow-up capabilities.
• Ability to coordinate efficiently with clients, engineers, site management, and finance teams.
• Experience in corporate interiors, retail outlets, hospitality, restaurants, automobile showrooms, or commercial projects is advantageous.
• Additional minimum 1 year experience with building costing, consolidated billing, and civil engineering tasks as relevant.

Compensation

The monthly salary range offered for this position is between INR 50,000 and INR 60,000.
