Role Overview
Inflexion Technology seeks experienced construction industry professionals such as Cost Controllers, Project Controls experts, Quantity Surveyors, or those with commercial construction backgrounds who are interested in shifting their expertise toward software and functional consulting.
This position is not a conventional IT or software developer role. Rather, it involves leveraging knowledge of real-world construction project operations, especially related to budgeting, project costing, commitments, procurement, variations, forecasting, and financial controls.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with construction clients to analyze their existing project cost and control workflows.
- Conduct detailed workshops with stakeholders to gather business requirements and discuss processes.
- Document requirements encompassing project budgets, cost codes/structures, committed vs. actual costs, procurement commitments, forecasting, change management, cost-to-complete, financial controls, and project reporting.
- Translate construction industry terminology and operational needs into clear functional requirements for the Konstryx system.
- Assist in configuring and implementing solutions aligned with agreed business processes.
- Liaise closely with technical consultants and product experts to ensure accurate interpretation of business needs.
- Support clients throughout demonstrations, workshop sessions, testing phases, and full implementation cycles.
- Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and help end-users verify that the implemented solution meets specified requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to client users on new processes and system functionalities.
- Serve as an intermediary between construction domain experts and IT teams.
- Offer practical insights and recommendations derived from prior construction experience.
- Contribute domain expertise in pre-sales engagements to understand potential client requirements or showcase applicable business use cases.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience within construction, contracting, engineering, or other project-based industries.
- In-depth understanding of construction cost control, project commercial management processes, budgeting, commitments, actual costs, forecasting, and reporting.
- Ability to analyze business workflows and identify areas for process improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and competency in managing diverse stakeholder relationships.
- Capability to articulate construction processes clearly to both business stakeholders and technical personnel.
- Strong analytical ability and problem-solving aptitude.
- Comfort with business applications including ERP systems, project control platforms, and tools like Excel.
- Interest and willingness to pursue a career in functional and technology consulting.
- No prior software consulting experience is required; candidates with strong construction domain knowledge and a desire to transition into consulting are especially encouraged.
- Experience with ERP, construction management, project controls, commercial management, or cost-control software is advantageous.
Additional Information
- Candidates who have spent several years managing construction project costs and frequently question current practices will find this role ideal.
- The role offers an opportunity to improve and innovate construction project management processes by leveraging technology, moving beyond purely operational tasks.
- Typical challenges faced include reliance on multiple spreadsheets, lack of unified views of project costs and commitments, and insufficient management visibility into project financials.
