About the Role

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a global leader renowned for its reliable remotely piloted aircraft, tactical reconnaissance radars, and sophisticated high-resolution surveillance systems. We are seeking a Cost Estimator to join our Airport Business Management (ABM) team, based at Flight Operations in Palmdale, CA. This role offers a flexible 9/80 work schedule with every alternate Friday off, one remote workday weekly, and access to the company rideshare program.

Key Responsibilities

• Calculate cost elements and prepare Basis of Estimates (BOEs) to assist management in planning, work scheduling, bid preparation, and cost effectiveness assessment.
• Aggregate and analyze statistical data to estimate Flight Operations expenses.
• Perform analyses to develop standard labor hour metrics and cost data, seeking opportunities for cost savings.
• Collaborate with internal departments and subject experts to compile accurate data.
• Evaluate specifications, proposals, and related documents to produce time and labor cost estimates for various products or projects.
• Review estimation plans, program features, cost structures, assumptions, and ground rules to determine labor requirements for BOEs.
• Obtain labor hour data for cost analysis relevant to Flight Operations.
• Support pre-award, post-award, and detailed audits as needed.
• Maintain and enhance electronic cost estimating databases.
• Create reports, charts, and graphical summaries of cost estimation findings.
• Drive continual improvement of the cost estimation process employing organizational change management strategies.
• Adhere strictly to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies during all business activities.
• Ensure a safe and productive work environment by following established procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to meet departmental goals.

Qualifications and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree typically required, with at least three years’ experience in finance, accounting, or business administration. Equivalent professional experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
• Solid understanding of costing principles, practices, and standard methodologies.
• Experience in a contracting environment with negotiation exposure and ability to resolve moderately complex costing challenges.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in verbal and written formats.
• Computer-savvy with expertise in relevant software, especially spreadsheet tools.
• Flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.

Compensation

This full-time opportunity offers a salary range between $56,820 and $96,015 annually.

Work Arrangement and Benefits

The position is primarily onsite at Palmdale, CA, with hybrid work options including one remote day each week and a 9/80 schedule. Employees may also utilize the company rideshare program.
