Job Overview

The Corporate Tax Assistant will play a crucial role within the UK Corporate Tax Department, supporting the accurate and timely completion of both direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting duties. This opportunity is ideal for individuals starting their career in finance or tax, offering extensive exposure to various tax and finance functions within a globally operating firm.

Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file UK corporation tax returns and related computations.
  • Assist in compliance and reporting obligations for both direct and indirect taxes.
  • Support the preparation of overseas tax returns and manage corporate tax administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate regularly with finance, accounting, treasury, and tax teams domestically and internationally.
  • Maintain accurate and organized tax records, collateral, and compliance schedules.
  • Address tax inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the deployment and upkeep of tax software and reporting tools.
  • Engage in process enhancement initiatives and ongoing compliance efforts.
  • Work jointly with international and UK stakeholders to meet critical deadlines.
  • Develop technical tax expertise through training opportunities and pursuing professional qualifications.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A degree or equivalent credential in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related fields is preferred, alternatively experience in finance, accounting, or tax environments is acceptable.
  • Foundational knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Motivated to learn and grow within corporate tax specialization.

Additional Desired Preferences

  • Progress toward or recent attainment of an ATT qualification is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in UK corporate tax or compliance roles is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with tax or financial software such as OneSource or AlphaTax is preferred.
