Role overview

Homestead Village Enhanced Senior Living is hiring a full-time, exempt Controller based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position reports to the CFO.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and financial reporting.
  • Examine general ledger transactions for accuracy and completeness, look into budget differences, and prepare or approve adjusting journal entries when needed.
  • Compile and combine financial information required for accurate consolidated results.
  • Work with other departments to resolve budget variances and expense-related issues.
  • Support year-end close work and assist with annual and quarterly filings and reports to external agencies.
  • Evaluate existing accounting processes, recommend improvements, and put new procedures into practice.
  • Create and maintain consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures aligned with accounting standards and applicable laws.
  • Help the CFO prepare annual operating and capital budgets and coordinate budget inputs from different departments.
  • Assist in reviewing prospective residents’ financial qualifications for admission.
  • When the CFO is unavailable, represent the accounting function to the Board of Directors, department heads, and residents by presenting financial statements, budget updates, and overall financial performance.
  • Stay up to date on accounting rules, legal requirements, and industry developments.
  • Guide, supervise, and develop accounting team members in partnership with the CFO.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • An MBA and/or CPA is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience is required, ideally in a Life Plan Community or other healthcare operation.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience supervising accounting staff is required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, are necessary.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, general ledger structure/design, payroll, and GAAP is required.
  • Knowledge of long-term care reporting, collections, and reimbursement requirements is needed.

Schedule and status

This is a full-time exempt position with a weekday schedule.
